Your First Visit
Initial consultation
Your first appointment with us, called an examination or initial consultation, is a very important visit. It will begin as you are greeted by our New Patient Coordinator. She will give you a tour of our office while explaining the many features and benefits of our office. She will also review your personal information and health history. Dr. Wilkinson will then conduct a thorough examination of your face, mouth, teeth, and jaws. If treatment is indicated, Dr. Wilkinson will address the nature of the orthodontic problems, the types of treatment required, the estimated length of treatment time and when to initiate the treatment that is necessary to correct these problems.
Future appointments and estimated cost
Once the initial examination has been completed, our New Patient Coordinator will provide you with information regarding future appointments, the estimated cost of treatment and explain the payment options available through our office. If you have orthodontic insurance, she will determine your maximum benefit prior to leaving the appointment. If Dr. Wilkinson recommends treatment to begin immediately, diagnostic records will be taken.
Accurate diagnosis
In order for Dr. Wilkinson to accurately diagnose your problems and plan your treatment effectively, some additional information is needed beyond what is found during the examination. This includes impressions, photographs, panoramic x-ray and cephalometric x-ray. Dr. Wilkinson's treatment plan will then be confirmed and the process of putting your braces on can begin.
