Preserving Your Smile
- Always keep your appointment with your family dentist and do what they recommend.
- Floss once a day.
- Brush after meals with a flouride toothpaste.
- Minimize foods loaded with sugar which is the key ingredient in white
spot and cavity formation.
- Have your teeth examined and professionally cleaned by your family dentist
at least once a year.
- Wear a mouth guard during contact sports.
- Wear a night guard if you have a tooth grinding habit.
- Wear your retainer after your braces are removed to keep your teeth from
moving out of alignment.
- Call Dr. Wilkinson for an appointment the very moment you cannot wear
your retainers for any reason... i.e. lost, broken, feels funny, melts
in car, you name it. Come in right away.
The retainer check visit is always free and it is better to get a retainer
back in your mouth than to have to go through braces again!
- Avoid smoking or chewing tobacco.
- Realize coffee and tea drinking come at a price... constantly stained
teeth.
- Call your Dentist for regular check-ups during braces and after braces!!
Very important!!
